So on July 9th, my sister Brandi & I both got tattoos. Neither of us have gotten one before, but on an impulse conversation over July 4th weekend at my aunt's lakehouse, we both decide to do it. So a week later, during already planned visit from my sister, we went to Gully Cat Tattoo here in Austin & took the plunge. We each got a turquoise ribbon behind our ear, hers on the left, mine on the right. The ribbon is for Ovarian Cancer Awareness. My mother recently finished chemo treatments for an advanced stage of this disease.
I was so surprised how relatively painless the whole tattooing process was. After *maybe* 10 minutes of uncomfortable, but not unbarable pricking from what sounded like a dentist's drill, I was done. Two weeks of simple maintenance (wash twice a day with dial soap, use aquafor several times a day) and I don't have to worry about it again.
Now I feel like a badass.
